Cassie Petit grew up in Troy, New York where at a young age she gained a keen interest in Physician Assistant studies. She was first introduced to the profession in high school when she participated in the highly selective New Vision Health Professions program. Throughout high school and college, she worked with adults with mental and physical disabilities. She later attended Providence College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Pre-Health Sciences. During her undergraduate studies, Cassie was involved in multiple volunteer opportunities including a service trip to the Dominican Republic where she helped provide medical care to underserved areas.
Following Providence College, Cassie attended the University of Bridgeport Physician Assistant Institute. As a graduate student she served as the chairperson for the Kidney Early Evaluation Program that provided screening measures and patient education to underserved residents in the state. During her clinical hours, she found a love and a passion for neurology and surgery. She was selected to present her thesis at the Connecticut PA Conference and later at the Association of Family Practice Physician Assistants Annual Conference. She was nominated to be a member of the Pi Alpha Honor Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Bridgeport Physician Assistant Institute.
After earning her masters degree, she was accepted into the highly competitive Norwalk Hospital/Yale School of Medicine PA Surgical Residency Program knowing she wanted to be as competent as she could in her desired field of surgery. During her residency training, she had the opportunity to work with the Neurosurgical Associates team, which confirmed her interest in neurosurgery. She was honored to accept a position with the Neurosurgical Associates of Southwestern CT and is excited to be a part of the group she so highly respected during her rigorous training.
Besides her love for practicing medicine and getting to know her patients, she enjoys spending time with her nephew (an Airedale terrier), painting, traveling, and doing anything outdoors.
